THE FEMININE THREAD®

The Feminine Thread® is a philosophy which  deepens our understanding of heritage and connection to place. It recognises that heritage significance extends beyond physical fabric, statutory designation, and architectural description. Alongside material analysis sits our own unique thread of memory, lived experience and custodianship, and the intangible narratives that shape how places can be understood and therefore sustained over time.

The term “feminine” does not denote gender. It refers to a mode and energy of perception historically underrepresented within planning and development discourse, one that recognises care, stewardship, relational intelligence, and long-term cultural continuity as integral components of sustainable placemaking and our own wellbeing.

The Feminine Thread® Vignettes sit beneath this philosophy. These curated studies of place surface often overlooked or untold narratives embedded within environments, it is a purpose project authored by Paulette and draws upon her longstanding and deeply held connection to heritage that has shaped her professional practice and one that she believes is innate to us all, though not always consciously articulated.
